The Heroes' search for Eliath continues. A tip sends them in the direction of the Black Sails, a tavern in the shadow of the Armory frequented mostly by Doomguards. There, they find Eliath has joined the Sinkers, and he looks very much alive. With a careful use of booze and subterfuge, the Heroes manage to give the Doomguard the laugh, and abduct Eliath.
When they interrogate him, he claims to be a prime wizard just arrived in Sigil, but when faced with hard evidence about his lies, his story changes: he "died" a few weeks back, but he was returned to life by the god of his youth, Lathander the Morninglord. He claims the god cured him of his madness, and told him to join the Doomguard, to redeem himself. The Heroes suspect foul play from a third party impersonating the gods, and decide to deliver Eliath to the Fated, in order to complete their mission and reap the rewards.
Still wanting to learn the dark of it all, the Heroes try to contact the Shadowknave in order to capture him, but the resourceful half-elf manages to elude them. It seems the only way to get some answers is to go back to the Mortuary, and get Toranna to talk. The Heroes set an ambush for her outside of the Mortuary, but the mysterious Dustman is not alone. Her zombies surround her, and when she spots the Heroes, she orders them to attack.
