The Heroes make use of their best manners, avoiding to anger the Succubus in any way. The demon pens a letter of her own, to be delivered to the mysterious gentleman that hired them in Sigil, and she even adds a bit of her own perfume to it. Then, she sends the Heroes back to Sigil through a nearby portal. When they deliver the letter to their employer, having caught the demon's scent, he rewards them with the agreed sum, plus a little extra for having performed their quest in such a short time.

The Heroes enjoy some downtime; during their carousing, Sarvaas accidentally angers a knight of the cross trade named Farrow, a shadow elf from an obscure Prime plane. The situation defuses rapidly, but Farrow is not done with the Nagai.
When Sarvaas begins a period of meditation in the Sensorium, he realizes too late that the incense he's been breathing for the last few days is actually a powerful, slow-working poison from the Lower planes. Bleeding out of his nose, and looking for a cure, he soon fins out that no mundane or magical means he has access to can cure him. His search for a out-of-the-ordinary healer points to the Beastlands, where the nymph Alisiphone is known to be able to cure any ailment.
When the Heroes arrive in the Beastlands, they are affected by the plane's peculiar trait. Each of them begins to "change", aquiring the features of an animal. Though they remain humanoids, they have to come to terms with rabbit's ears, deer's horns, and monkey's tails...
They find Alisiphone in the Pristine Lake, but the nymph is in no state to help them. Her lake, and the river feeding it, has been polluted by oil and debris, originating from the north, leaving her with no power, and threathening her very existence. If they want her help, they'll need to find out the cause of the pollution, and put a stop to it.
The Heroes travel north, where they found the Modron March stuck in the river, the modron sweating oli and muck under the unrelenting sun of Krigala. On the east, magical walls of thorns, raised by druids, block the passage. On the west, an army of dogs, led by the Dog Lord, let no one pass.
When the Heroes talk to the modron Decaton, they discover that a tribe of wemics (lion-centaurs) has diverted the March into the river, and the modron cannot further change their course, nor harm any creature of the Beastlands, due to ancient agreements. Only if the wemics will let them go back to their original path will they be able to resume their march.

The Heroes seek the wemics in the savannah to the west, but to gain information they first have to challenge the wemics champions to a battle of honor. Having prevailed, the pride-leader Bloodmane tells the Heroes that he acted on behalf of Prince Allarien, leader of the winged elves of the tree-city of Ilifar-in-the-wind. Led by the wemic warrior Thrallspur, the Heroes travel to the elven city.
