Session 50

Heroes: Meghera, Serghor, Aldarion, Trull

The Heroes contact Serghor through the planes, and the cleric reaches them in Acheron. He then uses his plane shift spell to transport all of them to the Mines of Marsellin.

 

While they look for the modron march, they are apporached by a single rogue modron calling himself "8". At first, the modron just wants the Heroes to take him away from Acheron, but when the march is attacked by an army of undead hobgoblins and bladelings, Aldarion appeals to his sense of community.

 

Together with the Heroes, "8" fights to repel the undead creatures. During the battle, Meghera approaches the modron hierarchs, still looking for the modron crucible. Yet, the modron have never heard of such an item. Convinced that the crucible is no more than a legend, the Heroes help the modron defeat the hobgoblin and their leader, Craggis, hoping to aquire the information they seek once the dust settles.

 

The Heroes defeat the warlord, discovering that he was nothing more than a suit of armor animated by an intelligent and malign sword. They banish the sword back to whatever plane it was forged in, and destroy all that remains of the undead attackers.

 

The few survivors of the modron march thank the Heroes for their help, and then cross the final distance to the portal that will bring them back to Mechanus. As the last modron disappears from you, the Heroes witness the completion of the Modron March.

 

The only modron remaining on the battlefield is "8": the brave rogue was mortally wounded during the battle, but he still finds the strength to whisper a few dying words to Meghera with his last breath. Having obtained the secret of the reason of this unusual modron march, the Heroes return to Sigil.

 

Meghera and Aldarion report to Zadara, and new plots are hatched in the luxurious chambers of the mighty titan.
