Session 48

Heroes: Meghera, Aldarion, Trull

The Heroes manage to take a breather inside their magnificent mansion, but soon the spell dissolves around them, as an old enemy comes back to haunt them. The archwizard Valran has greatly advanced his studies, and he has now encased whatever was left of his body inside the "chassis" of a decaton modron. Together with him, the warlord Doran and his Tacharim knights are out for their blood.

The Heroes kill many and more, but the Tacharim numbers seem to be without end. Counting on Meghera's ability to get out of trouble, Aldarion and Trull make their escape through a dimension door spell. Meghera tries to use her superior flying speed to escape, but she's brought low by Tacharim crossbowmen and she's captured.

Outside the Flower Infernal, Aldarion and Trull try to find a hiding place, but are soon tracked down by pursuing knights. Trull is knocked unconscious and captured, while Aldarion remains at large. With his magical powers spent, the wizard finds a place to hide, and gathers his strength while planning to rescue his companions the day after.

Trull awakes in a dirty cell, while Meghera awakes to horror. During the night, Valran has conducted his gruesome experiments on her, cutting off her legs, and attaching modron limbs to her hips!

But the Heroes are not defeated yet. While Aldarion infiltrates the Flower Infernal disguised as a Tacharim, Trull starts a riot in the prison, freeing the many modronoid slaves left in agony after the tortures suffered. During the chaos, the Heroes reunite, and take advantage of the fight to seeks out Valran and Doran.

When they find the two villains, they battle them to the last of their resources. They manage to kill Doran, but Valran, encased in his decaton body, knocks out both Trull and Meghera. In desperation, Aldarion reaches the mystical control chamber in the middle of the Flower Infernal, and through arcane means he overloads the magical device, triggering a chain reaction that will soon set the whole compound on fire.

While Valran tries to stop the inevitable, the Heroes find refuge in a rope trick. When they emerge from the extradimensional space an hour later, they find only the burned ruins of the Flower Infernal, obliterated by the magical explosion that has engulfed it.

With whatever strength they've left, the Heroes begin the journey back to Sigil, where Serghor uses powerful healing magic to regenerate Meghera's missing legs.
